UEFA Champions League semifinal draw produces exciting encounters

The UEFA Champions League semifinal draw took place at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland a few moments ago.

UEFA General Secretary Gianni Infantino assisted by Lisbon 2014 ambassador Luís Figo conducted the draw ceremony, which produced two exciting encounters in the semifinals of Europe’s elite club competition.

Defending champions FC Bayern Munich will face Real Madrid CF while Atlético de Madrid and Club Chelsea FC clash in the second semifinal.

Club Atlético de Madrid have qualified for the first time for the UEFA Champions League semifinals, while Chelsea are in the last four for the seventh time in 11 seasons.

FC Bayern Munich are bidding to become the first side to retain the trophy in the UEFA Champions League era. The German giants have made it to the semifinals for the fourth time in five years.

The UEFA Champions League  semifinals will be played on April 22/23 and April 29/30.

The final will be held at the Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica in Lisbon, Portugal on May 24. The winner of the Real Madrid CF v FC Bayern Munich semifinal will be the home team in the final.
