Indian origin Netan Sansara joins Norway's Fredrikstad FK

English defender Netan Sansara has signed a contract with Fredrikstad FK, which will keep at the Norwegian First Division (the 2nd highest Division of the Norwegian club football) side till the end of the 2014-15 season.

The 24-year-old Player of Indian origin impressed the Fredrikstad coaches during a trial including a test match against Follo Fotballklubb on Sunday.

“He is sure to further strengthen our squad. He can play multiple positions in the back four,” Geir Bakken (CEO, Fredrikstad FK) told the club’s website.

FFK coach Håkon Wibe-Lund said: “I am very pleased with the signing. Netan convinced from day one. A good player. Incredibly good character, which fits well to the performance culture we are building up. He can play as a stopper and a left-back.”

“He is positive, talks a lot and takes responsibility. I am, as I said very pleased to have him at Fredrikstad. He has played at top level in Denmark and the League One in England, and he wanted to play in Scandinavia. The first and foremost purpose when we pick players is that they can go straight into the starting lineup. Netan is a player who comes here because he wants to play for Fredrikstad. And he goes to great lengths to get it, and I like that,” the coach added.

“This transfer is made possible by external funding. It is from a person who has been with FFK and funded to the club in the past,” Bakken explained.

Netan Sansara hails from Walsall and he did also start his professional football career in his hometown, when he joined Walsall FC in 2008. Sansara made his debut for the club in a Football League One game in August 2008.

He went on to play for Dundee FC (Scottland), AFC Telford United (England), Corby Town FC (England), PAEEK (Cyprus), FC Vestsjælland (Denmark) and Boston United FC (England).

Netan Sansara has also been capped by the English U-18 and U-19 national teams.
