Cristiano Ronaldo claims the 2013/14 UEFA Best Player in Europe Award

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has won the the 2013/14 UEFA Best Player in Europe Award at a voting conducted at a special ceremony on the occasion of the UEFA Champions League group stage draw at the Grimaldi Forum, Monaco today.

A jury of 54 journalists from each of UEFA’s member associations casted their live votes to honour the best performer of the concluded 2013/14 season.

Manuel Neuer (Germany & FC Bayern Munich), Arjen Robben (Netherlands & FC Bayern Munich) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal & Real Madrid CF) were the three players who received the most points overall from the second round of voting and who were shortlisted for the final voting today.

Ronaldo was able to claim the most votes and to reward himself for an outstanding season for his club and country.

Meanwhile, Nadine Keßler (Germany & VfL Wolfsburg) clinched the 2013/14 UEFA Best Women’s Player in Europe Award ahead of Nilla Fischer (Sweden & VfL Wolfsburg) and Martina Müller (Germany & VfL Wolfsburg).

A jury composed of twelve journalists casted their votes at the same event today using an electronic system to determine the winner.
