FC Bayern Munich sign Xabi Alonso from Real Madrid

German giants FC Bayern Munich have announced the signing of Xabi Alonso from Real Madrid CF on Friday.

The Spanish FIFA World and UEFA European Champion has signed a two-year contract with the Bundesliga side to join Mehdi Benatia as a newbie at the club for the recently started 2014-15 season.

“It’s the best thing for us at the present time. I’m delighted we have them here. Both are very good news for the club,” Bayern coach Pep Guardiola commented on the club’s official website.

“Everyone knows him. He has bags of experience and a big personality. We need a player with his quality and vision. I know he’s 32 but that doesn’t matter in this position, where you need intelligent players, rather than the legs and stamina for the flanks,” Guardiola stated on Xabi Alonso transfer to Bayern.
