Bonny Niasso nets winner as Cavelossim return to top

Bonny Niasso netted in the 90th minute as Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim came from behind to scrape past Sporting Clube de Goa 3-2 in Round 5 of GFA’s Goa Pro League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa on Thursday. Sporting Goa led 2-1 at the interval.

The Flaming took the lead after just nine minutes when Beevan D’Mello steered home a cross from Mauvin Borges. Eight minutes later Victorino Fernandes blasted in his sixth goal of the season after receiving a lofted pass from Glan Martins.

Despite being two goals down, Cavelossim courageously continued to persevere and were rewarded when James Fernandes headed in from a Marcus Fernandes cross.

Changing over, Cavelossim continued to apply pressure and were back on level terms when Bonny crossed for James to shoot in and complete his brace.

With seconds left on the clock Cavelossim’s Bonny galloped forward to find the winner and send Cavelossim back to the top of the table after collecting 12 points from five matches.
