Hero Indian Super League (ISL) side FC Goa took on the India U-19 national team in a friendly match at the Tilak Maidan in Vasco on Saturday.

FC Goa won the match 4-0 courtesy to goals scored by Afghanistan national team captain Zohib Amiri, Portuguese import Miguel Herlein, Gabriel Fernandes and youngster Holicharan Narzary.

“This level of performance was expected after the commitment and daily training  that the team has been putting in every day,” FC Goa head coach Zico told after the match.

“The team now understand how I want them to play in terms of formation and performance. At the end of 90 minutes I’m happy with how the team played.”

“Pirès’ presence on the field is important. He played well and assists the team. I’m satisfied with his performance and that of the team too,” the Brazilian legend added.

FC Goa will face Chennaiyin FC in their first Hero Indian Super League encounter at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda, Margao, on October 15.
