German Bundesliga side SV Werder Bremen have fired their Indian origin head coach Robin Dutt on Saturday after a poor start into the on-going season. Assistant coach Damir Buric and goalkeeper coach Marco Langner were also sacked.
Werder Bremen announced the decision on Saturday after the club management discussed the situation with the advisory board.
“We would like to thank Robin Dutt and his team for their work. He led SV Werder through a difficult stage in the past couple of months with a lot of passion. But after the recent results, we are convinced that the team needs a new impulse to get them out of the current situation,” Werder Bremen’s general manager Thomas Eichin said in a release issued by the club on its website.
Werder Bremen’s U-23 coach Viktor Skripnik and his coaching staff of former German internatonal Torsten Frings, Florian Kohfeldt and Christian Vander have been announced as the replacements for Dutt and his coaching staff.
“We forced our talent development with him over the past few years. He was an important part of the connection between the academy centre and the professional team. Now he has the chance to continue this path in the Bundesliga. We are convinced that he has everything needed to give the team confidence and the means to win games and continue to develop,” Eichin commented on Skripnik’s appointment.
