India Women's team rout Sri Lanka to breeze into SAFF final

Riding on a brace from Indumathi, the India Women’s national team breezed into the final of the SAFF Women’s Championship when they blanked Sri Lanka 5-0 in the first semifinal in Islamabad today. India led 2-0 at the interval.

In a one-sided contest, Indumathi opened the scoring for India in the 23rd minute only for Bala Devi to double the lead in the 31st minute. Bala with her strike took her tally of goals to twelve, the highest in the tournament so far.

Changing over, Parameshwori Devi scored the third almost immediately, in the 48th minute. Thereafter Indumathi scored her second of the match in the 69th minute to make it 4-0 for India.

Kamala Devi completed the rout scoring from the spot in the 72nd minute.
