Sporting Clube de Goa overcome Calangute

Boima Jerry Karpeh netted a fine brace as Sporting Clube de Goa overcame Calangute Association 3-0 in a GFA Goa Pro League match at Duler Stadium, Mapusa on Saturday. Sporting Goa led 2-0 at the interval.

It was a comfortable victory for Sporting Goa, who brought back Anthony Wolfe into the side to partner Boima Karpeh upfront, while Glenton Wolfe was rested.

Sporting Goa took the lead after just thirteen minutes, when Boima was lurking to opportunistically tap in a wonderful cross from Anthony.

Just before the breather, the Flaming Oranje stepped on the gas one more time, with Boima feeding Mauvin Borges who performed a repertoire of dummies and step-over’s, before letting fly a stiff grounder into the far corner of the net.

In the second session, Sporting Goa continued to dominate possession and kept raining shots on the Calangute goal. If it was not for the heroics of the Calangute custodian Gerard D’Mello, it could have been worse.

In the final five minutes, Sporting Goa substitute Joe Pereira collapsed in the box after falling victim to a reckless challenge. Boima stepped up to convert the penalty and seal the three points for the Flaming Oranje.
