Sporting Clube de Goa trounce Churchill Brothers

Shanon Viegas netted a fine brace as Sporting Clube de Goa thumped Churchill Brothers SC 5-0 in a GFA U-14 1st Division league match at Don Bosco Ground, Panjim on Tuesday. Sporting Goa led 2-0 at half time.

Sporting Goa raced into the lead after just 16 minutes when left back Beevan Monteiro crept up the field and spectacularly chipped the ball over the Churchill goalkeeper who had momentarily ventured off his goal line.

Just before the interval, Sporting Goa doubled their lead when Nikhil Correira went on bamboozling run past three defenders, before burying the ball with a delicate scoop.

In the second session, Sporting Goa continued to run riot with Shanon cleanly slicing the ball into the far corner of the net to make it 3-0.

In the closing stages, Aman Govekar who was looking menacingly all afternoon added to the tally, before Shanon completed his brace for the Flaming Oranje.
