Mumbai City FC face Delhi Dynamos FC in a crucial Hero Indian Super League (ISL) away game today as the Mumbaikars look forward to end their goal drought.
Mumbai are placed 7th in the ISL table with 12 points from 10 matches and eight goals to their tally. Mumbai City head coach Peter Reid is well aware of the fact that his team needs to start scoring goals and win matches.
“Scoring goals has been a problem. I have to change the objective of the team. If tomorrow night we go one down, I will change the game because we need points,” Reid told during the pre-match press conference.
“However, it will be difficult for us because we are missing Anelka and Moritz who arguably are the best attacking players we have. So it is now up to somebody else to take the chance and that’s what we will be looking to do.”
“In every practice we have a crossing and finishing session. The players in the session are good but we have to implement it in the match.”
“We are expecting a difficult game tomorrow. If you look at the table, we have had some disappointing results recently. Having said that, anyone could beat anyone in this league. We are excited about tomorrow’s game,” the Englishman continued.
“We were all over the place defensively in the last 10 minutes of our previous game, as we went in search of a goal. Hopefully, we will be a bit more tight (defensively) at the start tomorrow. I know we are quite capable of coming to Delhi and winning. At the same time, Delhi are quite capable of beating us. That’s what makes it very exciting.”
“If you look at the league table, you will realise that the league is very tight except for Chennai who have some room at the top. Anyone can beat anyone. We are expecting a hard but exciting game tomorrow. The teams are evenly matched and they don’t want to get beaten. They want to win but mostly, they don’t want to be beaten. That is why there haven’t been many goals.”
Mumbai City FC skipper Syed Rahim Nabi does also hope that his team will deliver against Delhi Dynamos.”We have been practising a lot. Whatever chances we get we will make the most of them,” the Indian international stated.
The Delhi Dynamos FC v Mumbai City FC match will kick-off in the capital at 19.00 IST.
