Lacklustre Mohammedan Sporting U-19 go down to East Bengal U-19

The Mohammedan Sporting Club U-19 team started their U-19 I-League Zonal Round campaign with a 0-2 defeat against the East Bengal Club U-19 team at the East Bengal Club Ground on Sunday afternoon.

Mohammedan started off well and enjoyed the lion’s share of possession during the first quarter of the match, but they failed to capitalize from the advantage. East Bengal soaked the early scare and surged ahead in the 41st minute through Buddha Bera. The hosts went into the half-time break with a 1-0 lead.

The boys in black and white lost the plot completely in the second half and played some lacklustre football which resulted in East Bengal’s second goal in the 67th minute from Suman Majumder.

Mohammedan Sporting attempted a few attacking moves in patches in the final stage of the match, but poor finishing and lack of co-ordination upfront saw them going down 0-2.

The Mohammedan Sporting Club U-19 team will host United SC at the Rajpur-Sonarpur Ground in their next U-19 I-League match on Thursday (December 18).
