Sporting Clube de Goa and East Bengal share spoils

Nigerian midfielder Ogba Kalu came up with a neat finish to equalize for Sporting Clube de Goa as they drew 1-1 with East Bengal Club in Round 1 of the Hero I-League at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Fatorda on Sunday. East Bengal led 1-0 at the break.

East Bengal raced into the lead after just seven minutes, when Ranti Martins captilised on a mix up in the Sporting Goa defence to steal in and take on the goalkeeper, before calmly stroking the ball home.

Changing over, Sporting Goa started to increase the tempo with their raids going forward. Fifteen minutes from time, Rowllin Borges managed to thread the ball through for Ogba Kalu who clinically poked the ball home to equalize for the Flaming Oranje.

Sporting Goa captain Anthony Wolfe was named the Hero Man of the Match and picked up his trophy and prize money of Rs. 10,000.
