Naro Hari Shreshta wins it for Salgaocar in the U-19 I-League

Salgaocar FC narrowly overcame Sporting Clube de Goa by a solitary goal in the U-19 I-League at Don Bosco Ground, Panjim on Monday. Salgaocar led 1-0 at the interval.

Salgaocar raced into the lead as early as the seventh minute, when a free kick rebounded off the Sporting Goa wall and fell into the path of Naro Hari Shreshta who guided his shot in between a crowded box of player which nestled into the bottom corner.

Just before the lemon break, Sporting Goa had a superb chance to level when James Fernandes’ shot was parried by the Salgaocar goalkeeper, with the ball falling to the Sporting Goa captain Ganesh Thakur who relayed it back into the path of James but his second attempt was cleared off the goal line.

Post resumption, Sporting Goa had another great attempt to level when Shawyn Fernandes’ teasing stiff grounder from the edge of the box had the Salgaocar custodian at full stretch to parcel the ball for a corner.
