Pune FC to celebrate AFC Women’s Football Day with a 7-a-side tourney


Pune FC will celebrate the first-ever Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women’s Football Day with a seven-a-side Invitational Football Tournament for Women at the Maharashtriya Mandal Sports Complex in Mukundnagar on Sunday, 8th March, 2015.

Having recently started their Women’s Team, Pune FC aims to involve various schoolgirls and organisations and has teamed up with Amura Marketing Technologies for the big day.

Coinciding with the International Women’s Day, the AFC Women’s Football Day will be celebrated on March 8th every year and aims to recognise, celebrate and promote the development of women’s football across the continent.

Furthermore, with the AFC being the first football confederation to launch and celebrate such a day, the event carries added significance.

The seven-a-side Invitational Tournament will consist of two 8-team competitions – one for Schools and one for teams from Colleges, Clubs and Corporates.

The eight teams in each section will be divided into two groups of four each with the top-two sides qualifying for the semifinals. The winners and runners up of the competition stand to win exciting prizes from the sponsors along with exclusive goodies from Pune FC.
