India U-23 squad leaves for 2016 AFC U-23 Championship Qualifiers

A 23-member India U-23 national team squad under Head Coach Savio Medeira left for Dhaka, Bangladesh today morning to compete in the 2016 AFC U-23 Championship Qualifiers. Besides hosts Bangladesh, India have been clubbed in with Group E with Uzbekistan and Syria.

The Championship serves as the preliminary phase of the Rio 2016 Olympic Qualifiers. The winner of the group along with the five best second-placed teams (from all groups) would proceed to the final phase of the AFC U-23 Championship which is slated to be held in Doha next year.

All matches would be played at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka. The Indian squad had assembled for a Preparatory Camp in Goa from March 4 onwards.
