Sporting Clube de Goa and Bharat FC to battle at Fatorda

Sporting Clube de Goa and Bharat FC will battle it out in a Hero I-League encounter at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Fatorda, on Saturday. The kick-off time is 16.30 IST. The match is not being televised.

Sporting Goa was held by Mumbai FC to a 1-1 draw in their last outing, while Bharat were defeated by Bengaluru FC 0-2 and both teams will be looking to return to winning ways.

Sporting Goa is currently on eleven points from fifteen matches, while Bharat are on twelve points from fourteen games.

Sporting Goa coach Mathew Costa is confident of his side’s chances. “We have been playing well in recent matches, but need to make it count in front of goal. My players have been working hard in training and are well prepared,” remarked Mathew.

Bharat FC coach Stuart Watkiss is happy to welcome back nearly six faces who missed the last match through injury, while Gourmangi Moirangthem Singh and Ravanan are back from suspension. New Zealand striker Kris Bright has not fully recovered from injury and is a major doubt for Bharat.

“We have got a healthy squad and I am looking forward to a tough game against tough opposition,” stated Stuart.

The first time the clubs met in March, Bharat FC snatched a narrow 1-0 victory courtesy of a Mehrajuddin Wadoo effort.
