AFC General Secretary Dato’ Alex Soosay resigns

Asian Football Confederation (AFC) General Secretary Dato’ Alex Soosay has resigned from his post as a reaction to a probe into allegations that he ordered a cover-up during an audit of the AFC in 2012.

The Asian Football Confederation issued following statement on Soosay’s resignation:

Dato’ Alex Soosay has tendered his resignation as AFC General Secretary with immediate effect. The Asian Football Confederation would like to thank Dato’ Alex Soosay for his commitment to Asian football during his extensive 20-year-long career at the AFC and wishes him all the best for his future career.

AFC Deputy General Secretary Dato’ Windsor John will be in charge of the AFC General Secretariat until a new general secretary is appointed.
