A four member FIFA and AIFF delegation toured the State of Assam from August 7 to 9, 2015 to assess and implement the AIFF Pilot-Project for the development of State Associations.

Apart from Assam, West Bengal, Kerala, Maharashtra, Goa, Delhi and Mizoram have also been included in the project, which aims to develop football across India.

The four member delegation, which was led by FIFA Development Officer for South East Asia Dr. Shaji Prabhakaran and comprised of the FIFA Technical Director for AIFF, Vincent Subramaniam, CEO of Hero I-League, Sunando Dhar and Savio Medeira, conducted an array of meetings with the Assam Football Association (AFA) Executive Body for the development of football in the State.

Furthermore, the delegation also conducted a session with the State’s Sports Minister, Sri Ajit Singh and District Associations.

As part of the project to impetus the growth of football, the AIFF will appoint a Technical Director and a Director for Marketing and Operation, which will help the Assam Football Association to chalk out a detailed roadmap to develop the ‘beautiful game’.
