AIFF Executive Committee Member Ankur Datta, also the Vice-Chairman of the I-League, who accompanied Shilton during his visit stated that it was a “great day in the history of Assam football.”

“The presence of Peter Shilton is a great day for the Assam Football Association (AFA). His presence will inspire a lot to take up the sport and get associated with it,” he told AIFF Media.

“The AFA is trying their best to promote professional football in the State and as part of it Shilton distributed the prizes for the inaugural edition of the ASPL which was a huge success,” he added.

Datta also mentioned about Shilton’s down to earth attitude which impressed all.

“Despite his legendary status he is such a gentleman, so cordial and so approachable. Maybe in the near future we will get him for a Goalkepeing Seminar, he informed.
