Manchester City’s Diego Gigliani would love to see managers using Twitter

Manchester City FC’s Senior Vice President Media & Innovation Diego Gigliani has emphasised the importance of social media in modern day football.

Gigliani was talking at the SpoBiS 2016 sports conference in Düsseldorf, when he said that social media are an important tool for clubs, players and team managers.

The Manchester City FC official was able to give an interesting overview into fan relationship in his presentation entitled ‘Global Fan Relationship Management’ on Day 2 (February 2) of Europe’s leading sports business conference.

He told that social media like Twitter have the power to reach out directly to the fans without the need of any third person who shares the views of a manager.

Gigliani was quick to state that the first priority of a manager and the players should be to win championships. But speaking from a long-term commercial point of view he added that social media are an excellent tool to utilise.
