Mohun Bagan advance to AFC Cup knock-out stage as group winners

Mohun Bagan AC have wrapped up the top spot in Group G of the AFC Cup as the Kolkata giants secured a 1-1 draw against Maziya Sports & Recreation at Male’s National Stadium on Wednesday [+ Watch the Video].

The hosts took the lead when skipper Asadhulla Abdulla put the ball past Mohun Bagan goalkeeper Arnab Das Sharma in the 65th minute.

Mohun Bagan were at the verge of losing their first match in this AFC Cup campaign, but Indian international Jeje Lalpekhlua found the back of the net in the dying moments of the match.

Mohun Bagan are top of the table with 11 points from five matches. The I-League side will face South China from Hong Kong in their final Group G match on May 11.
