India U-17 World Cup squad defeats Luxembourg U-16 1-0

The India U-17 World Cup Squad defeated the Luxembourg U-16 National Team by a solitary goal to nil in Luxembourg yesterday (June 8, 2016).

Abhijeet Sarkar’s 50th minute strike following a Komal cross from the right flank, proved to be the difference between the two sides in a tight match as India ran out eventual winners.

After a drab first-half goalless, India adopted an attacking stance in the second half and after taking the lead, the Indian team came close to doubling their goal scoring tally in the 55th minute when Boris found the net from a deflection, but the referee waved it offside.

Shortly after Komal failed the tap the ball home from hand-shaking distance after he was found by a Nawaz cross, as India upped their ante.

India tried to extend their lead but the Luxembourg defence kept the Indian attack at bay, however at the end of time the scoreline read 1-0 in India’s favour.
