Mohun Bagan sign Afghanistan international Zohib Islam Amiri for CFL

Mohun Bagan AC have signed Afghanistan international Zohib Islam Amiri, also known as Haroon Amiri, for the remainder of the 2016/17 season of the Calcutta Football League.

The 29 year old had a trial with the club besides a physical fitness test with Mohun Bagan’s physical trainer Djair De Miranda Garcia on Monday. The experienced allrounder then had a full training session on Tuesday under head coach Shankarlal Chakraborty, where he was able to impress the coaching staff.

Amiri has been a familiar face to Indian football fans since 2011 when he joined Mumbai FC. He went on to play for Dempo SC, FC Goa and DSK Shivajians FC.

“Happy to announce I have joined Mohun Bagan. My first stint in Kolkata and I’m really looking forward to give my best for the club and it’s fans. Thanks to the club coach and management for showing faith in me,” Amiri stated on social media.

The former Afghanistan captain will sign his registration for the Mariners at the Indian Football Association (IFA) office today according to the club and he might be seen in action against Bhawanipore on tomorrow.
