India move to 148th in latest FIFA World Ranking

The Indian national team has moved up four spots in the latest FIFA World Ranking released today. India is now ranked 148th (26th in Asia) with 205 points.

India gained vital points from the international friendly victory against Puerto Rico (4-1) earlier this month.

Stephen Constantine’s team is the best team from the South Asian region, ahead of Afghanistan (149th), Maldives (165th), Bangladesh (185th), Nepal (186th), Bhutan (189th), Sri Lanka (193rd) and Pakistan (194th).

Meanwhile Argentina remain at the top of the FIFA World Ranking with 1,646 points ahead of Belgium (2nd), Germany (3rd) and joint 4th placed Colombia and Brazil.

The two new FIFA Association Members Gibraltar and Kosovo played their first official FIFA matches last month and made their debut entry to the FIFA World Ranking. Kosovo were able to enter the ranking at 168th position, while Gibraltar claimed the 205th position.

The next FIFA World Ranking will be published on October 20, 2016.
