Mohammedan Sporting beat Jhapa XI to lift Sikkim Governor’s Gold Cup

Mohammedan Sporting Club clinched the 36th All India Sikkim Governor’s Gold Cup after beating Nepalese outfit Jhapa XI FC 1-0 in the final on Thursday.

Manvir Singh scored the all important goal in the 17th minute which separated the teams in a evenly contested final played at the Paljor Stadium in Gangtok.

This is Mohammedan Sporting’s first Sikkim Governor’s Gold Cup triumph after 36 long years and also their first silverware since winning the IFA Shield in 2014.

Mohammedan Sporting have won the prize money of Rs. 100,000, while Jhapa XI FC received Rs. 50,000.

The final was played in the presence of Chief Guest Shri Uganda Gyatso, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Government of Sikkim and Guest of Honour Shri C. Zangpo Bhutia, Secretary, Tourism, Government of Sikkim.
