Goa trashes Daman & Diu in their 71st Santosh Trophy 2017

The Goa state men’s team scored a big 8-0 win over Daman & Diu in their 71st Santosh Trophy – West Zone qualifiers opener in Madhya Pradesh.

Goa took an early 4th minute lead through a Melvin Lobo goal, which was followed up by a double strike by teenager Liston Colaco in the 10th and 12th minutes. Captain Francisco Fernandes got onto the scoresheet in the 17th minute and Liston Colaco completed his hattrick just a minute later to make it 5-0.

Goa continued to be on the rampage with Richard Costa scoring in the 25th minute, Leander D’Cunha in the 32rd minute, and Marcus Mascarenhas completing the 8-0 scoreline in the 44th minute, which was in the first session itself.

After the break no more goal were scored as Goa still walked away with an easy 8-0 win.

Goa next face hosts Madhya Pradesh on Saturday, January 7.
