Santosh Trophy

Rajasthan thumps Gujrat in 71st Santosh Trophy 2017

Rajasthan initiated the second match by thumping Gujrat 1-0 in the Qualifying Round of the 71st Santosh Trophy at Rajmata Chunkumari Stadium, Waidhan – Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh.

After losing out on the first one against Maharastra, the team responded magnificently.

The match was nail biting and without any scores till half-time as the Rajasthan players even after getting four to five open chances could not convert the opportunity into goals. Towards the last few minutes, captain Gulfan crashed the ball into the net and left a winning mark for Rajasthan after a decade.

The Rajasthani players have learned a lot in this trip and we cannot ignore the efforts put in by coach Sunil Rao in motivating the team and boosting them to win this last qualifying match. Physio Dr. Vishal Saxena and Manager Ramendra Singh have also contributed to the success.

Rajasthan have started the winning march with this win against Gujrat and the Rajasthan Football Association hope they have a long way to go, wishing them the best of luck.
