Mohammedan Sporting Club celebrates 126th Foundation Day

Mohammedan Sporting Club, on Wednesday, celebrated the 126th Foundation Day at the Mohammedan Sportoing Club Tent in the midst of much fanfare.

Mohammedan Sporting Club, one of the oldest and most prestigious football clubs in Asia, was founded originally in 1887 under the leadership of Nawab Aminul Islam as ‘Jubilee Club’. Later it was renamed as ‘Crescent Club’, which was again changed to ‘Hamidia Club’. Finally in 1891, the club was named as the ‘Mohammedan Sporting Club’.

The occasion began with General Secretary Ghazal uz Zafar and Senior Vice President Hazi Nurul Huda hosting the club flag alongside club’s football and cricket team players. Then a couple of 5-a-side and 7-a-side matches played between club’s Youth Development Project players.

The day ended with a Exhibition Match played between Mohammedan Sporting Club Official’s XI and Coach’s XI. While General Secretary Ghazal uz Zafar, Team Manager Belal Ahmed Khan, Chairman of Youth Development Sharique Ahmed, Vice Chairman of Youth Development Hasian Ahmed, Assistant Team Manager MD. Javed, Office Secretary Akbar Ali  and Mentor of Youth Development Mustafa Khan took the field for the Official’s XI, Head Coach Ranjan Chaudhury, Assistant Coach Zaheer Abbas Hamza, Goalkeeper Coach Naseem Akhatar and Youth Coaches in Tayyab Alam, Abid Hossain, Aslam Parvez and Murari Kar turned out for the Coach’s XI.

Coach’s XI won the match 2-1 thanks to a Abid Hossain brace while Sharique Ahmed pulled a goal back for Official’s XI.

Speaking on the occasion, General Secretary Ghazal uz Zafar, said, “Mohammedan Sporting Club is not just a football club, it is also a symbol of national integrity and an example of the communal harmony.”
