India U-17s lose to Mexico in Torneo de 4 Naciones opener

The Indian U-17 World Cup Squad lost 1-5 against Mexico in the opening match of the Torneo de 4 Naciones which kicked-off in Mexico City, Mexico today (August 3, 2017).

The India U-17 national team were left stunned after Mexico took the lead as early as the 1st minute and doubled the lead in the 23rd minute to take the hosts leading 2-0 at half-time.

In the 53rd minute, however the Indian colts were awarded a penalty and Amarjit Singh converted with ease to half India’s deficit. Five minutes later, Mexico regained their two goal advantage as the hosts scored to make the scoreline read 3-1. Mexico scored two back to back goals in the dying embers of the match as the full-time scoreline read 5-1 in Mexico’s favour.

The Indian U-17 team will face Colombia U-17s tomorrow (August 4, 2017) at the Centro de Alto Rendimiento in Mexico City, Mexico. The kick-off for which is slated for 23.00 IST.
