Churchill Brothers SC defeated Guardian Angel SC 2-0 in the Goa Professional League organised by the Goa Football Association (GFA), at the Duler Stadium, Mapusa on Sunday evening.
Sevlon Cardozo and Mannas Sarkar were the goalscorers for Churchill Brothers.
Guardian Angel Sports Club looked to get another win after their 1-0 win against Santa Cruz de Cavellosim. Churchill Brothers looked to pocket their first three points of the league after their narrow 0-1 loss against Calangute.
Churchill Brothers got on their heels to get the three points. As they troubled the Guardian Angel defense right from the start of the match. In the 24th minute however Churchill Brothers drew first blood through Sevlon Cardozo’s strike after Guardian Angel goalkeeper Ram Sroop failed to keep the ball out.
At lemon break the scoreboard read 1-0.
Post resumption Churchill Brothers looked to double their lead and in the 51st minute they did just that. With yet another defensive error from the Guardian Angel custodian he gifted the ball to Mannas Sarkar who did the rest. In the remainder of the match Churchill Brothers attacked even more but the Guardian Angel defense warded off the attacks.
At full time the scoreboard read 2-0. Churchill pocketed three points. Guardian Angel’s keeper rued the match for them.
