Mizoram and Haryana win Khelo India Football Tournaments

Mizoram have won the 2018 Khelo India School Games Boys’s Football Tournament at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Thursday, while Haryana claimed the silverware in the Girls’s Football Tournament.

Mizoram defeated Punjab 3-2 courtesy to goals scored by Lalnunzama (24′), F. Lalnuntluanga (47′) and H. Zawnhmingthanga (51′). Rohit Shekh (29′) and Sukhwinder Singh (81′) found the back of the net for Punjab.

Meanwhile, Haryana downed top favourites Manipur in a nine-goal thriller in the Girls’s Football Tournament Final. Samiksha (16′, 41′), Renu (24′, 45’+2′) and Mona (84′) were the goalscorers for Haryana in their 5-4 win, while Th. Babysana Devi (1′, 24′), Babydolly Devi (50′) and Y. Laxmi Devi (56′) hit the target for Manipur.
