India U-16s defeat Aspire U-16s in Doha

The India U-16 National Team, on an exposure trip to Qatar, defeated the Aspire U-16s 1-0 today (February 12, 2018) courtesy of a Rohit Danu goal in the second half.

Danu’s 50th minute strike proved to be the difference between the two sides after the half-time scoreline read 0-0 with neither team creating a clear goal scoring opportunity. The Indian colts however tried to break the deadlock in the 25th minute when Kima’s header from inside the box was kept at bay by the opposition custodian. Attempts in the 44th and the 45th minute by the Colts to open the goal scoring charts were thwarted by the opposition defence line.

In the 74th minute, after scoring the first goal, Danu tried to extend India’s lead over their opponents but his shot was palmed away by the opposition goalkeeper. A minute later, Bekey’s attempt after a corner kick flew over the bar. In the 82nd minute, Givson’s freekick was saved. At the end of time the scoreline read 1-0 in India’s favour.
