Dempo Sports Club celebrate AFC Women’s Day

Dempo Sports Club celebrated AFC Women’s Day across their three grassroots partners – Bethany Convent High School, Sao Jose de Areal, Perpetual Convent High School, Navelim and St. Teresa High School, Candolim – on 8th March 2018.

The purpose of the celebration was to create awareness and promote football in the women community across the state.

On the occasion, a total of 100 girl footballers participated in the celebration where they played a 11 v 11 friendly match.

All participants were provided with Dempo SC T-shirts. The program was well organised by Grassroots Coordinators Alexander Fernandes and Antonio Pereira.

Dempo SC Youth Development – Technical Director Mr. Karnagaran Naidoo in his comments said that Dempo Sports Club were extremely happy to organise this festival. “Women have been emerging to take centre stage in the world on all fronts. Football has been one of the powerful and meaningful vehicles that have propelled women to reveal their true force in a sport that was previously dominated by men. We salute women everywhere for their strong voices, principles, their role in the upliftment of society and the special roles they play in all facets of life!”
