German Consul General of Kolkata meets with Mizoram FA leaders

Dr. Michael Feiner, Consul General, Federal Republic of Germany in Kolkata and the Mizoram Football Association (MFA) heads met-up yesterday, April 18 at Hotel Floria in Aizawl to discuss the possibilities of a working partnership.

Mizoram Football Association President Lal Thanzara and Honorary Secretary Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar welcomed Dr. Reiner, who stated that he will look into possibilities of aiding Mizoram in the development of football. Dr. Reiner had chosen the MFA as the first organisation to meet up on his visit.

The MFA Honorary Secretary spoke of the previous endeavours taken by the MFA and the then German Consul General in 2012 which resulted in two German coaches giving in-depth training to Mizoram coaches, Bundesliga club 1899 Hoffenheim’s visit in 2014 as well as the visit by German Student’s National Team in 2016. He also spoke of exploring the possibility of another visit from a German football team in the future.

The German Consul General stated that he will probe for possibilities to aid Mizoram in areas beyond football as well, and also explore the prospect of developing women’s football in the state.
