Indian Super League

Legendary Tamil Nadu footballer Nagesh commemorated by Chennaiyin FC

Former Chennai and Tamil Nadu footballer P. Nageswara Rao, better known as Nagesh, was honoured by spectators at the Indian Super League match between holders Chennaiyin FC and Northeast United FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium yesterday.

A striker by trade, Nagesh played for Integrl Coach Factory and Port Trust in the Chennai Football Association senior division league in the 1960s and 1970s and was a dear fan-favourite. Spectators at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium commemorated one of the greatest footballers Tamil Nadu has ever produced with a minute of roaring applause during the half-time break.

Members of Nagesh’s family, who were in attendance at the stadium welcomed this heart-warming gesture in remembrance of the state’s footballing icon from yesteryears.
