Hamburger SV fire coach Christian Titz, Hannes Wolf takes over

German side Hamburger SV, who are currently in Bundesliga 2, have parted company with their head coach Christian Titz.

HSV sports director Ralf Becker and club president Bernd Hoffmann personally informed Christian Titz this morning that they would be relieving him of his duties with immediate effect. The board pointed to the recent performances.

“Part of our responsibility is to analyse the sporting situation the team is in. We feel that the team isn’t developing enough and we also feel that there was a risk that we wouldn’t reach our goals this season,” said Ralf Becker.

Hannes Wolf has been appointed as new head coach and will take over this afternoon.

The 37-year-old coach, who won the Bundesliga 2 title with VfB Stuttgart in 2017, will have his first training session with the first team squad tomorrow.
