Tata Trust CoE & Aizawl FC Academy to contest Mizoram U-15 League final

The semifinals of the inaugural Mizoram U-15 League was contested last evening, November 27 at the AR Lammual in Aizawl. Tata Trusts Centre of Excellence and Aizawl FC Academy overcame their respective opponents to play in the final.

The final will be contested in the evening of December 1.

League leaders Tata Trusts Centre of Excellence battled fourth placed Chanmari FC in the first semifinal and came out 2-1 winners.

A goalless first half was followed up by an eventful second half as Tata Trusts CoE took the lead through Ongnam Singh in the 51st minute. A fierce shot from Lalngilneia was parried by Chanmari FC goalkeeper Lalhruaizela but only as far as Ongnam who made no mistake in finishing his chance.

Their lead lasted only five minutes as Zodinmawia equalised for Chanmari FC, finishing from a free-kick delivery by Amosa Lalnundanga.

But it was Tata Trusts CoE who eventually retook the lead as Lalhruaizela failed to firmly collect a corner from Lalhriatpuia and the ball fell kindly for Lalngilneia who scored their winner minutes before the final whistle.

Aizawl Grassroots Centre played some brilliant incisive football in the second semifinal as they controlled possession against a more physical Aizawl FC Academy side. But they could not make most of their possession game as they failed to carve open a resolute Aizawl FC backline.

And they were made to rue their chances in the second half when an error from the Grassroots custodian led to a goal by Malsawmtluanga.
