Postponed Copa Libertadores final to be played in Madrid

The postponed Copa Libertadores final return leg between Boca Juniors and River Plate will be played on Sunday, December 9 at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid, Spain. The announcement was made by CONMEBOL, the South American Football Confederation, yesterday.

The CONMEBOL Disciplinary Committee also imposed a fine against River Plate. The club has to pay $400,000 for fan violence, and the team will be required to play two games behind closed doors.

The return leg was originally scheduled to take place last Saturday, but had to be postponed after River Plate fans attacked the Boca Juniors team bus and injured various players. The first leg of the Copa Libertadores final ended in a 2-2 draw.
