DFB-Pokal – Highlights: Borussia Dortmund 5-7 Werder Bremen

Bundesliga table toppers Borussia Dortmund bowed out of the DFB-Pokal (German Cup) after an entertaining Round of 16 match against Werder Bremen at the Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday night.

Bremen took an early lead as Milot Rashica found the back of the net just five minutes into the game. But Marco Reus levelled the score line with second left for the half-time whistle.

The second half ended goalless and the match went on with a dramatic extra-time: Christian Pulisic (105′) put the home side in the lead, but Bremen’s veteran striker and Bundesliga legend Claudio Pizarro scored the equalisier in the 108th minute.

Dortmund’s Achraf Hakimi restored the margin five minutes later just to witness the equaliser by Bremen’s Martin Harnik in the very last minute of extra-time.

The Round of 16 match continued with a penalty shoot-out, which saw Bremen’s goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka save two penalties by Paco Alcácer and Maximilian Philipp.

The penalty shoot-out ended in a 4-2 win for Bremen.
