24 Indian coaches take part in AIFF D-License Course in Dubai

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) along with the Association of Indian Football Coaches (AIFC), conducted a D-License coaching course from March 15-23, 2019 at the University of Wollongong in Dubai. The instructor for the course was Mr Dinesh Nair, Director of the AIFC and an Instructor with the AIFF.

This was the second time such an event has been organized and featured a total of 24 Indian participants living abroad – 23 of whom came from different parts of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and one from Germany.

Nair stated that he was impressed by the know-how and passion displayed by the coaches. “The quality and technical abilities of the coaches was very good. They are extremely passionate and dedicated,” he said.

“Most of them are working in schools and academies and getting their D-License will help them going ahead,” Nair explained, before adding, “There are a lot of Indian coaches here who want to return to their country and work at the grassroots level. They are also working with the Indian players abroad and as a result, it can become a good base in the future for the national teams to scout for prospects.”

The course was held over nine days, three more than the usual six. Nair explained, “We had to tweak the course a little given the schedule of the participants. On Friday and Saturday, we used the full day while on the others, the course was held in the evenings.”
