FIFA President Infantino meets AFC President Shaikh Salman in Zurich

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has held wide-ranging discussions with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa in Zurich on Thursday, September 12, on a number of subjects – including greater co-operation between FIFA and the continental confederations.

Discussions at the Home of FIFA – which saw the AFC President joined by the AFC’s General Secretary Dato’ Windsor John – included forthcoming competition proposals, the key role that confederations play in the structure of international football and the AFC’s plans for a new state-of-the-art training centre in Putrajaya, Malaysia.

In addition, there were discussions around the need to ensure that there is a stronger understanding between FIFA and confederations, for more structured programmes which will lead to the avoidance of duplication of resources and efforts.
