German government approves Bundesliga restart behind closed doors in May

The German government and the federal states agreed on Wednesday that the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 can restart the 2019-20 season behind closed doors in the second half of May.

The decision was made at a meeting which involved German chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel and the chief ministers of all German federal states.

The date for a restart will be decided tomorrow by an Ordinary Assembly of the DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga, governing body of the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2.

The Bundesliga will be the first top football league to restart its operations after the COVID-19 lockdown, while other leagues have closed their season.
