VfL Wolfsburg win their fourth successive Women’s Bundesliga title

Women’s football powerhouse VfL Wolfsburg have successfully defended their FLYERALARM Women’s Bundesliga (FLYERALARM Frauen-Bundesliga) title following a 2-0 win against SC Freiburg today. Wolfsburg enjoy a an unassailable eight-point lead and a goal difference of +80 at the summit with two games to spare.

Joelle Wedemeyer opened the score sheet at Wolfsburg’s AOK Stadion in the 32nd minute, when she slotted home a Claudia Neto cross. The hosts sealed their win in the second half as Denmark star Pernille Harder scored her 26th goal of the season. Harder converted a Svenja Huth pass from the right flank in the 47th minute.

The win secures Wolfsburg their sixth Women’s Bundesliga title.
