Arminia Bielefeld sign left-back Jacob Laursen from Odense BK

Newly-promoted Bundesliga side DSC Arminia Bielefeld has announced the signing of Danish left-back Jacob Laursen. The 25-year-old joins the Germans on a free transfer from Danish Superliga side Odense BK. He has signed a three year contract until June 30, 2023.

“We have scouted Jacob intensively for a long time and we are convinced that he will fit to our formation with his capabilities as an offensively-minded wingback and his pace as well as his running abilities. We are delighted that Jacob has decided to join us and to be part of our Bundesliga journey,” said Arminia Bielefeld’s Managing Director (Sports) Samir Arabi.

“I’m ready for the new challenge,” said Jacob Laursen. “I was able to gain a lot of valuable information on Arminia from Jóan Símun Edmundsson with whom I’ve played at Odense a couple of years ago. Therfore, it was as an easy decision to me to come here.”

Laursen followed Arminia’s Bundesliga promotion together with his girlfriend in front of his computer. “I was so nervous during the last few games that I had to run around my flat after 15 minutes. I couldn’t watch the games and I kept on asking my girlfriend for an update. I look forward to the new season in Bielefeld.”

Arminia Bielefeld head coach Uwe Neuhaus is thrilled to welcome his new left-back: “Jacob has enjoyed a very good training und he has stood his ground in the Danish league. He was a pleasant and focussed player during our conversation. He will fit perfectly into our team and he will help us.”

Arminia Bielefeld has finished the Bundesliga 2 season on top of the table after an impressive 2019-20 campaign. Bielefeld will return to the top tier after eleven long years.
