Mizoram FA mourns the death of ExCo member Dr. Lalzarmawia Khiangte

Dr. Lalzarmawia Khiangte (44), Mizoram Football Association Executive Committee Member and Sports Medicine Doctor, Mizoram State Sports Council has passed at 6:10 AM this morning. He was hospitalised on the evening of August 6th after experiencing difficulty in breathing, but was ultimately unable to pull through.

Dr. Mapuia, as he is fondly known, was the first Sports Medicine Doctor in the Mizo community; he was the Doping Control Officer when India hosted its biggest football event in recent memory in the FIFA Under 17 World Cup 2017; he was responsible for the assessment and supervision of the physical condition of all football teams under the Mizoram Football Association as well as providing his expertise and assistance in matches organised by the MFA.

He had also proven to be an invaluable member in numerous other disciplines of the Mizoram sports fraternity.

The Mizoram Football Association is devastated by this untimely loss and extends its most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Dr. Lalzarmawia.
