Claudio Pizarro becomes an FC Bayern ambassador

FC Bayern have appointed Claudio Pizarro as a club ambassador. In his new role, the long-standing FCB striker and fan favourite will help to promote FC Bayern’s name, traditions and values throughout the world. In addition to the 41-year-old Peruvian, Giovane Elber, Lothar Matthäus and Bixente Lizarazu already serve as ambassadors for the club. Pizarro will also become a permanent member of the FC Bayern Legends squad.

Andreas Jung, board member responsible for marketing: “We are delighted to have secured Claudio Pizarro as an ambassador for FC Bayern. As a player, Claudio was a darling amongst the public and garners enormous respect among our fans. His South American soul has been spiced with a pinch of Bavarian through his many years in Munich, and all this, in addition to his great success as a player, makes him a perfect representative for FC Bayern.”

Claudio Pizarro: “I am very happy to return to FC Bayern as a club ambassador. It is a dream to be back in Munich. FC Bayern is always described as a family, and that’s exactly how it feels. Now, in my new role, I will once more give everything for this club – just like I used to as a player.”

Pizarro played a total of nine seasons for FC Bayern (2001-2007 and 2012-2015), scoring 125 goals in 327 appearances. He has won the Bundesliga title six times with the Bavarian side, the DFB Cup five times, the Intercontinental Cup in 2001, and the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup in 2013. In the Bundesliga, he holds the record for the most appearances by a non-German and being the oldest goalscorer in the competition.
