NorthEast United FC sign striker Kwesi Appiah

Indian Super League franchise NorthEast United FC have announced the signing of English-born Ghanaian striker Kwesi Appiah ahead of the 2020/21 season.

30 year old Camberwell (Greater London) born Kwesi Appiah is a youth product of Ebbsfleet United, where he also made his senior debut.

Kwesi Appiah joined Peterborough United but only played on loan for Weymouth FC, King’s Lynn FC and Kettering Town FC before joining Brackley Town FC.

He thereafter played for Thurrock FC and Margate FC before joining Crystal Palace in 2012, but only after half a season, he spend time on loan with Aldershot Town, Yeovil Town, Cambridge United, Notts County, AFC Wimbledon, Cambridge United, Reading FC, and Viking Stavanger.

League One side AFC Wimbledon resigned Kwesi Appiah on a permanent contract in 2017 and he spend the last three seasons with them before now moving to India.

On joining NorthEast United FC, Kwesi Appiah said, “I am really excited to be a part of this squad and cannot wait to be on the pitch again with my new teammates. I have heard a lot of good things about this league and the team from my fellow compatriots and it is an honour to represent this great region in one of the fastest growing leagues in the world.”

NorthEast United FC’s Executive Director Priya Runchal said, “Kwesi is coming in from the English Championship, which we know as one of the most competitive leagues in the world. He has had memorable stints at various clubs during his career and we are excited about the quality he will bring to the team.”
