Mohammedan Sporting Club celebrates 130th Foundation Day

Mohammedan Sporting Club on Tuesday (22 February, 2021) celebrated the 130th Foundation Day at the Mohammedan Sporting Club tent in the midst of much fanfare.

Mohammedan Sporting Club, one of the oldest and most prestigious football clubs in Asia, was founded originally in 1887 under the leadership of Nawab Aminul Islam as ‘Jubilee Club’. Later it was renamed as ‘Crescent Club’, which was again changed to ‘Hamidia Club’. Finally in 1891, the club was named as the ‘Mohammedan Sporting Club’.

The Occasion began with Vice President Mohammed Qamaruddin and Interim General Secretary Danish Iqbal hosting the Club flag alongside Finance Secretary Sharique Ahmed, Athletic Secretary Hasnain Ahmed, Treasurer Mohammed Akram and Asst. Ground Secretary Belal Ahmed Khan.

The club also organized a voluntary blood donation camp in association with Project Life Force (PLF), in view of a shortage of blood reserves across the state during the corona pandemic.

“We express our immense gratitude to all the donors who took out time inspite of their busy schedules and made this blood donation camp a great success. It was so heartening to see that many people have donated blood generously.” said Danish Iqbal.

“Blood donation service is the best social service to humanity. It is a very noble cause as by donating blood, one gets the opportunity to save someone’s life. By donating blood, one can bring happiness to someone’s life and make a difference in his life. We are delighted to share that 55 units of blood was donated to Project Life Force,” Sharique Ahmed said.
