India drops to 57th in FIFA Women’s World Rankings

The latest FIFA Women’s World Ranking were released by the world football governing body earlier today and in the first rankings of 2021, India drop four spots in 57th position behind Venezuela, but ahead of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

India have 1425 points, four points less than in the last quarter and they retain their 11th position in the Asian (AFC) Women’s rankings.

In recent friendlies, India had lost 0-1 to Uzbekistan and 1-2 to Belarus.

In South Asia, India remain in top spot ahead of Nepal (101st), Bangladesh (137th), Sri Lanka (143rd) and the Maldives (144th) and Bhutan (161st) with Pakistan currently unranked.

There were changes in the top 5. The 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup winners United States (2,200 pts) retain top spot ahead of Germany (2,089 pts), while the Netherlands (2.039 pts) and France (2,030 pts) switched spots ahead of Sweden (2,017 pts) completes the top five.
